Some folks on Ancestry have his father as William Chavis I who was born 1706, but there are some posts from 2021, etc. that point out some issues with those connections and state that Jesse was William Chavis I's grandson, not his son. Some, therefore, have William Chavis I with a son named William Chavis II who was Jesse's father.
