On her Marriage Record Index and the Birth Record Index for her daughter, her Birth Surname is Markovitch.
On Geni, her Birth Surname, and surname of her parents is Markofsky.
I am working on the ancestry of a semi-strong DNA match to me, and wonder.what makes you sure this is not two different people?
Also, any additional records you can find and upload or info you know from family and can mention would be appreciated.
The shortest answer to your question is that:
* the 1901 census shows the Markofski family (parents Abraham & Rose & children Esther, Bella, Kate, Sophia, Rachel & Nathan) all living at 201 Roman Road;
* the 1911 census shows the Markovitch family (parents Abraham & Rose & children Sophia, Rachel, Nathan & Albert) all living at 201 Roman Road; and
* the naturalisation papers, signed 3 Nov 1903, include Abraham Markovitch living at 201 Roman Road with his ‘under age’ children being Kate, Sophia, Rachel, Nathan & Albert) all living at 201 Roman Road.
This seems to me to be a very strong indicator that in this 10-year period they were using the two different family names interchangeably.
Note that Rachel’s older sister, Bella, used the name Markofsky on her marriage record and on the birth record of her daughter, Hilda.
However, looking at my records for this family, which I haven’t done for some years, what is more of a puzzle, are the GRO birth records for Rachel and her three UK-born siblings which are either missing or exist but with a variety of different maiden names for the mother.
If you would like more info, please message me via Geni instead of using this public discussion and, if you give me your email address, I will send you copies of any documents I have which may help you.
