James Patrick, Sr. - What is the primary evidence that James Patrick Sr. was the son of Robert Patrick?

I have three James Patrick's on my pedigree tree. 1) Birth year - 1710. 2) Birth year- 1732 (1's son). 3) Birth year - 1778 (1's grandson and 2's son). There is no Robert Patrick anywhere on my tree. I do not show who the father is for 1).
