To be accurate, this project name should be changed to Jewish Aristocracy, not Nobility (which usually refers to Kings and Queens etc.).

There is a big difference between these two terms;

The people called aristocrats are those in the highest social class in a society; one of the most influential and powerful people.

While nobles (Nobility) are those who received special privileges and titles or hereditary titles that were awarded by a king or queen.

It can simply explain like this; All noble families are aristocrats but not all aristocrats are nobles.

I guess you're right, but since Austrian Jews were only admitted to the Lower Nobility, it still sounds a bit awkward to me in English.

This project is not only about Austrian Jews, but Jews who have been ennobled regardless of whether they were neophytes or remained Jews since Medieval times until the present.

It is important that we understand from a historical perspective, and see how it has changed between these time periods, I have found at least three Jews who have been ennobled to duke, which would probably be impossible in the 19th century and therefore I found it interesting and want to take a closer look at these.

I also thought that some people in the 19th century were ennobled because they themselves "bought" a Baron title by paying a sum to the Royal House because they needed money or invested a fixed sum for various activities or establishments, which also happened in Austria .

While others received the title of Baron after they have achieved a sum of money in the banking branch or instrustribranch, it is like when you own lands of a certain size you automatically became a Baron and before it was mostly in military service you can be ennobled to Baron.

To be ennobled to Count or Duke is significantly more difficult, in addition some require the Royal House to convert from Judaism to Christianity or Catholicism, despite the circumstances people have been ennobled without converting. Therefore, it is quite interesting how it has worked in the different time periods and between the different countries.
