Elder members of my family shared a story about James's death in Australia, in 1946.
The memory includes information that James went to Australia after WW2 to work (teaching perhaps) And that James was beaten to death by assailants. No details about arrests etc. according to the stories, James father, William Taylor, was deeply grieved to lose his only son and traveled to Australia to retrieve his son's body, and bring it to be buried in Ontario. In 1946, that would be an expensive and long journey.
The family rumour is that James may have been a "spy" or have been involved in espionage during the war. And his death was somehow connected to that.
If you have more information, supporting or refuting, please add to the discussion.
Thanks,
Debra
