@ Emanuel Henry Randall. This person is my deceased husband's great grandfather. I have lots of data on the next six generations down, if I get into my genealogy records. Our family stories of Benjamin match your story. Emanual started out as a real mountain man trapping for furs. His father was getting ready to leave to fight for the Union in the Civil War. He was all packed and ready to leave. He walked around behind his horse and the horse kicked him in the head. He lingered in a coma for a long time before he died. Emanuel's wife Harriet (nick name Hattie) was able to get a hold of Emanuel and he came home from Idaho before his father died. His oldest child was 10 years older than the next two, the amount of time he'd been away from his wife trapping. His father, Benjamin, and later Emanuel, raised fine drafts horses. Emanuel went back to trapping in Idaho. He wrote his wife and asked her to join a wagon train coming west, bring the kids, and breeding stock for the draft horses. She did. They settled in WashingtonTerritory on a farm near the city of Chehalis. His company logged and floated shake bolts down the Newakum River to go to San Franciso. He built a barn an exact replica of the one in Wisconsin. I used to have photographs of both barns, but my house burned in 2019. Emanuel's oldest son,Earl, was my husband's grandfather. He had many jobs, the most exciting story were his cowboy days and moonshining. Earl's oldest son, Alvin Emanuel Randall, my husband's father, was an international mountain climber, and worked at Boeing in Seattle. My husband, Charles Randall, was Alvin's oldest son. My husband taught biology and coached at Arlington, WA's high school and worked summers for Olympic National Park as a Naturalist and Law Enforcement Ranger. We have 3 sons, 5 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, and 4 great grandchildren so far. I can send more data if I get into my records, they mostly survived the fire.
