David Ingram whose Y-DNA is in conflict with my son's results and the male relatives in his family who have tested shows on Geni as related to my son this way:
David Ingram is Len Ingram's 7th cousin twice removed.
Len Ingram
→ Leonard Ingram, Jr.
his father → Leonard Lee Ingram, Sr.
his father → James Belvin Ingram, Sr.
his father → Jefferson Davis 'Jeff' Ingram
his father → Lemuel Ingram
his father → Harmon Ingram
his father → John Little Ingram
his father → Benjamin John Ingram
his father → William Ingram
his father → John Ingram, Il
his brother → John Ingram, Ill
his son → Thomas Benjamin Ingram
his son → John James Ingram
his son → Hiram Bell Ingram
his son → Ira Bell N Ingram
his son → <private> (Ingram)
his son → David Ingram
his son
The common ancestors, if this were correct, would be John Ingram, I and Anne Ingram (Sisson)
the 9. John Ingram, I b. 1674, Wicomico Parish, Northumbeland, Virginia; d. June 29, 1720, Northumberland County, Virginia
in both pathways you posted.
However, we know that can't be correct, given the conflicting Y-DNA haplogroups.
My son's line is from John and Anne's son William and David has that his line is from John and Anne's son John II
I have no idea if / where any error might be in David's tree or if it's a biological error rather than a tree error. All I can say is that I collaborated long and hard with an elderly cousin of Len's who was born an Ingram and her brother's Y-DNA matches Len's and his closer male cousins as well. Anyway, she had literally thousands of pages of prior research done by a Dr. Charles Ingram decades ago that she sent me in PDF form via email years back. She's now writing a book on the family lines based on her many years of research and collaboration. Additionally, the male cousins who match Len's Y-DNA have a relative who coordinates their DNA and genealogy and she and I collaborated as well. So I'd like to think I have Len's lines as correct as I can get them. But, I realize any of us could have errors.
On the FTDNA Ingram Y-DNA project, Lens' haplogroup is in the minority for Ingrams, but their site shows this:
https://www.familytreedna.com/public/IngramDNA?iframe=yresults
SIR R FITZ INGRAM 1470-1500 England I-M253
Goldman Ingram b.1777 d.1850 United States I-M253
James D. Ingram Unknown Origin I-M253
Robert Ingram b. 1838 and d. 1923 Unknown Origin I-M253
and then there are multiple other Ingram haplogroups showing, and R-M269 is one of the more common ones.
This is the pathway for Len and his cousin Nancy whose brother matches Len's Y-DNA
Len Ingram
→ Leonard Ingram, Jr.
his father → Leonard Lee Ingram, Sr.
his father → James Belvin Ingram, Sr.
his father → Jefferson Davis 'Jeff' Ingram
his father → Lemuel Ingram
his father → Harmon Ingram
his father → John Little Ingram
his father → William Ingram
his brother → Goldman Ingram
his son → John Ingram
his son → William Marion Ingram
his son → Virgil Estell Ingram
his son → <private> (Ingram)
his son → Nancy N. Ingram (Keiser)
his daughter
Nancy and her brother are direct descendants of:
Goldman Ingram
who is my son's first cousin 6 times removed.
As you can see, their profiles got hit by the conflicting Y-DNA as well.
John Ingram, I and Anne Ingram (Sisson) are Len's common ancestors with them as well.
So, knowing how much effort others have already put into researching these lines on Len's side, I have to believe that at least up to John Ingram I and wife Anne Sissons is correct for that branch of Ingrams to be I-M253.
I don't know how to get it corrected on Geni though.
