I want to say while I have worked on these Gibsons over 35 years, I have collected many records etc., but no way are they figured out.

GiBeon Gibson who went to Mississippi with his three sons, may very well have left grown sons living on the Pee Dee with families - as William born 1743 is a toss up on parentage.

One:
Many if not most of the Gibsons were Traders, Packmen, Trappers, Surveyors, as early as mid 1600s. Gideon Gibson who first appears in South Carolina early 1731 on the Pee Dee River, Daniel and John was on the Congaree and Roger on the Wateree. When Governor Johnson called Gideon before him he said:

"That the Father of them here is named Gideon Gibson and his Father was also free"

He called Gideon Gibson before him and says 'the father of them here is Gideon Gibson. If he called Gideon Gibson husband of Mary Browne b. abt 1695, would not his father have been Gideon Gibson Sr.? 'And his father was free' - Johnson mentions three generations - first born 1640-50.
