Agnes Potter was not the child of William Calvin Potter but was the child of Joseph Corbett and Nannie Potter, born to Nannie Potter in a foundling
home in Pittsburg, PA., in November 1911. This is shown by the natural birth certificate on record at the Bureau of Vital Statistics in Newcastle,PA.
Because this was a Catholic Asylum and Foundling Home Agnes was baptised by the Nuns as was the practice of the day but not followed today.
The nuns clearly stated that Nannie was a Presbyterian and was 32 at the time of Agnes's birth. She was given up for adoption and was adopted
a year later by Frank Zieffel and his wife about a year later. Nannie Potter was a widow and passed away about 6 months later, after the birth, of tuberculosis.
Neither Nannie Potter nor Joseph Corbett were married to each other.
