DOB 1686 and Christening 1690

DOB estimated in FFY Project is 1692. The family only arrived at the Cape on 20 07 1699

DOB 1686 and Christening 1690?

DOB 1686 and Christening 1690 - This was listed as an inconsistancy . and were the dates reflected on the profile as DOB and Christening.
Sifting thru the large number of attached sources, no reference to these dates can be located. The only clear reference in many of the attached sources as well as the FFY Project is the estimated DOB of 1692 NOT 1686. No Christening date was evident.
I opened the discussion to establish if the DOB and Christening dates that were reflected on the profile can be verified.
The DOB of 1692 does however result in her having given birth between the ages of 14 and 15 years old.

Age when first child born about 18 !

Yes confused hence my reason for launching the discussion.

All viable sources place her birth at estimated 1692. Was her DOB calculated using the birth of her first child as a reference ignoring all source references? Where did the Christening date come from as well.

Thanks for responding so quickly. This has been really frustrating trying to sort inconsistancies.

Regards

Clive

Clive de Klerk I'm checking the documentation - How good are you at spotting details on docs? I'm not great, and try as I might, I can't see Magdalena Mouton de Klerk here. Can you or anyone else spot her? https://media.geni.com/p14/1a/33/10/13/5344486556ee1260/wedw_abraham_de_clerk_29_may_1779_burial_original.jpg?hash=223d8f25efa6c79f489f5af4d0dac9eee292e224a525e2684f5c4c3081e29679.1745391599

Ahh, found it ... 29 May 1779 - Wedw Abraham de Clerck d' oude

For birthdate, Delia of ffyp is citing Pieter Coertzen, The Huguenots of South Africa 1688-1988 (28 Wale Street, Cape Town: Tafelberg Publishers Limited, 1988), Page 166. Hereinafter cited as The Huguenots of South Africa.
If I check that, he isn't giving sources - but it seems likely it's from a 1699 ship list giving her age, that must be accessible in its original form somewhere I can't find electronically.

I see no baptism doc either. I think we can ignore that.

Thats the one, caught me until I realised Wedw could be abbreviated Weduwee of ......... Sometimes knowing a bit of Afrikaans helps.

Have not been able to find baptism doc either.

Sharon, can you check this source.

Its another source Death Register with 'Wedw Abraham de Clerck d' oude' but has May 19 date listed. Could this be her date of death.
The 29 May 1779 source does reflect it as a burial date.
