I believe, that Pleasant was put out for adoption when very young and Henry and Elizabeth Floyd Eastridge took him in and raised him as their own. It is unknown if Pleasant or the natural born children of Henry and Elizabeth ever knew of this arrangement as there were many stories passed down including Pleasant in the list of their children. Since there have been no documents discovered regarding this exchange, I guess it could be possible, however unlikely, that he was kidnapped. I also believe that Pleasant was originally named William Hunt as is noted in some Quaker documents in Guilford County, North Carolina. Many Y DNA tests have been completed for descendants of Pleasant and the natural born children of Henry and Elizabeth Floyd Eastridge. These results proved, without a doubt that Pleasant was NOT blood realtion to anyone in that family, therefore removing Pleasant from any of their genealogical records. The descendants of Pleasant firmly place him as a grandchild of William and Mary Woolman Hunt.
