Lewis Huneycutt was borne about 1801 in Montgomery County, North Carolina. His parents and siblings are unknown partially due to loss of records from Courthouse fires.
Montgomery County was formed from Anson County in 1779. Since its inception it has suffered three (3) fires. In 1835 and 1840 fires destroyed many records. The Courthouse burned again in 1886 with most records saved but disorganized.
There’s a lot of speculation on the parentage of Lewis with the most prevalent being that he is the son of Ambrose Hunnicutt/Huneycutt. But, its just that – speculation. No proof has been found that would prove his lineage as required by the Genealogical Proof Standard."
