Borivoj 870 – 889 +

Gorivej, *852, +889. His father was supposed to be Prince Hostivít, who is classified among the legendary monarchs.
After 1990, it was discovered that Bořivoje's father was the Moravian prince Rostislav and his brother was the priest Uceň, later Moravian bishop Gorazd. Bořivoj was the cousin and brother-in-law of Prince Svatopluk I the Great (Svatopluk Bogislav's father was Rostislav's brother).

In the legend of St. Ivan (from the year 900) is written: "Bořivoj, Prince of Moravia, a Christian of the Greek faith." (= professed the Byzantine Eastern Rite). Its territory was central Bohemia. In Christian's Chronicle, he is identified as a Moravian prince. From 872, together with other Bohemian princes, he supported the Moravian prince Svatopluk against the Franks.

In 872, the Frankish army marched against Great Moravia and defeated five Slavic princes somewhere near the Vltava in Bohemia: Svatoslav (Sventislav, Zuentislan), Vitislav (Vítězslav, Witizlan), Heriman (Heřman), Spytimír (Spoitimar), Mojslav (Moyslan, +872 ) and the sixth was Gorivej (Bořivoj). After the victory over these princes, the Frankish soldiers withdrew to their country.
