The profile for James Dodd, convict, lists his parents as Samuel Dodd and Nancy Duff. I believe this to be incorrect, and so all the people who precede Samual and Nancy in this tree.
Cheshire, England Bishop's Transcripts for birth and baptism of James Dodd give mother's name only - Elizabeth Dodd. It seems likely she was an unmarried mother.
Can someone please advise on how to remove the incorrect parents?

Hi Laurel
If the profile is not marked with "MP" you can always edit it with the correct info,
But the curator to ask is probably:
Job Waterreus
He would be the one to ask about this.
Rick

Probably better to ask Private User about James Dodd

Thank you Richard and Job for advice.

Dr Laurel McKenzie
Could you please add sources to the profile.

I will have a look at what I can add.

It looks we have 2 possibilities for James DODD

  • born 22 April 1827
  • born 3 September 1829

Is any family mentioned in his court documents or death certificate?

What's the source for him marrying Gillespi ?

He has 3 daughters with the same name

What's the source for 2 daughters with the same name alive at the same time?

Has James DODD born 9 March 1829 son of Samuel DODD and Nancy DUFF

Hello Leanne,
The profile that I created for James Dodd has been 'Isolated' as a duplicate. I can't see how to delete that profile. Perhaps you can do that?
There is a source that lists christening for James Dodd 22 Apr 1827 • Parish of Tarvin, Cheshire, England:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-DRMQ-VW3?cc=1469935
Mother's name only listed - Elizabeth Dod.
It appears most likely that she is an unmarried woman. It is remotely possible, I suppose, that Elizabeth was married to a man named Dodd, and that her own name at birth was something else - there is, for example, a record for Christening of a James Dodd 14 Feb 1830 in Sandbach, Cheshire, England, father John Dodd, mother Elizabeth Dodd.
However there is a Christening record for Martha Dodd, also with mother's name Elizabeth Dodd, no father listed, so a possible sister or half sister to James: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:F367-2FJ).
I have found no record that ties James Dodd, Convict Oriental Queen, to parents Samuel Dodd and Nancy Duff.
I will leave it up to you to edit the original profile, if you think appropriate.
Thanks and best wishes, Laurel

Hi Dr Laurel McKenzie

What evidence connects James DODD the convict with the baptism record for a James DODD son of Elizabeth?

Hi Leanne, I can find no definitive evidence that James Dodd convict is the son of Elizabeth Dodd (birth/baptism 22 Apr 1827 Tarvin, Cheshire, England). Nor can I find any records to link James to parents Samuel Dodd and Nancy Ann Duff.
