=== The Origins of Andrew-1 Beard are Unknown ===
Below is a verbatim excerpt from Claire M. Sherwood and Margaret D. Falley, FASG (Fellow of the American Society of Genealogists), The New England Ancestry of Wyllys Warner Baird and his wife Olivia Pomeroy Green (Strasburg, Va.: Shenandoah Publishing House, Inc., 1976), 1-41:
1. ANDREW-1 BEARD, ... appears in Massachusetts records for the first time in 1691, in Reading, where town records show that he, with Gershom Davies and Henry Merrow, was “warned out of town.” …
The town of Reading then comprised with is now North Reading, Reading and Wakefield, approximately six to eight miles west of Lynn…
Intensive research has revealed no clue to the earlier residence of Andrew-1 Beard, nor to his parentage. Despite the claims of the compiler of the “The Baird Memorial” in 1925, wherein he claims him as a son of Thomas Beard of Oyster Point, Maine, “born while his parents were visiting in Scotland” and connecting the lineage with an ancient Baird family of that country, there is not a vestige of evidence to support this assertion. On the contrary, as will be shown in a later report, it has been proved that he was not a son of Thomas Beard of Oyster Point, nor apparently connected in any way with that family.
<=== END OF EXCERPT
Y-DNA results available to date do not indicate that Andrew-1 Beard was related to any of the earlier Bard/Baird/Beard immigrants of New England which may suggest that he was also an immigrant. Y-DNA results on file for patrilineal descendants of Aaron-3 Beard, when compared to descendants of immigrants with known origins, suggest that Andrew-1 Beard or his ancestors may have originated in Scotland.
