Charity Tydings was not a known daughter of Thomas Sparrow & Elizabeth S Johns

No birth record for Charity Tydings has been found in Maryland. Some researchers have suggested her maiden name was Sparrow. Robert Barnes, a well-known Maryland genealogist, lists several possible women named Charity who could have married Richard Tydings, none of them were named Sparrow. His possibilities include: Charity Adams who was named in the will of William Battin of Somerset Co. in 1662; Charity Bagbie who was named as a daughter in the will of John Bagbie of Calvert County in 1670; Charity Stone who witnessed the will of George Puddington of Anne Arundel County in 1674.

Charles Brashear had stated that Richard TYDINGS' wife Charity was a SPARROW, daughter of Thomas SPARROW and Elizabeth KINSEY, and that this was the Thomas SPARROW who died about 1674.9 There is simply no evidence to support such a conclusion.

One of the more important SPARROW documents was recorded in Anne Arundel Co, MD Land Records.10 This shows that:
** 1. Thomas SPARROW transported himself and his wife Elizabeth, and his children Thomas and Elizabeth to MD in 1649.
* 2. In 7 Sep. 1659 Thomas SPARROW, son and heir of the first Thomas SPARROW received a patent of 590 for Sparrow's Rest, which had been surveyed for his father.

The above show that the first Thomas SPARROW was deceased by 1659, and that his Thomas [Jr.] obtained the patent for his land in 1659.

@Matthias

I added the same source to Charity's profile(second link) if you look in bio. This was when I was working out who my Grandmother was and online information was all over the place. I do show cousin relationship two ways as *is on here to Tom and Elizabeth. We could run the lines together or you could use the push pin and run the lines. You'll have to run the lines from each of my parents. I think I share 100 cousin with them because of Pedigree Collapse and intermarriage. It makes my matches to modern and Ancient DNA very weird. My full Genome said I was too heterozygous when I tried to upload it. I haven't visited this since I upload, I think...

Not up to speed with this profile to be honest.

Well, that source (fzsaunders) clearly says that Charity wasn't a child of Thomas Sparrow. Richard Tydings and Thomas Sparrow must have known each other, since Richard witnessed Thomas' will and was an appraiser for his estate, but doesn't mean Charity was Thomas' child.

If you remove Charity as a child of Thomas and Elizabeth, then she can be merged with the pre-existing profile, but you'd have to ask a curator to do the merge because the Master Profile for Charity is locked for relationships.

Thanks,
Matthew

Will do. Like I said, I was working on the lines and stopped there. Honestly, forget about it after I added the link and was going to continue working on it.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
