Logan. If you want to know who your family was, first take dna tests. As a late in life discovery adoptee who never knew about the secret I was adopted in Germany and born to a French Jew from Strasbourg France, the dna tests I've taken began to open a whirlwind of info about my family from Europe. Research all search engines like Family Search which is free to use, immigration, ports of entry, census records, family including newly found genetic cousins. For me, I found out very recently I am related to former Sec of State- Henry Kissinger via my Julich/Stern/Kissinger links and also Julius "J' Robert Oppenheimer via my Oppenheimer/Stern links, both from Germany. I'm sure I will find my connection to my being related to Albert Einstein too. Keep trying. If I can be if help, please reach out to me
It would help if you didn't make your relatives or your tree private so that others can try to make connections to them. Also, the more relatives you add to your tree the better. Just a couple of suggestions and I wish you the best of luck. Feel free to ask any questions you have, and we will try our best to help. 😊
We'd love to help but we need a starting point like the names and dates of any family members of whom you are aware and whether living or deceased. The relationship of each of these to you would be helpful. Genealogy can be difficult and frustrating and may lead you down many blind alleys but stick to it. The results are gratifying.
Jackie Frant Lynn Arsanis I’ve looked at a few family trees here and I don’t think any of us are related lol. I barely use this website and I don’t think I even have much of a tree here. The only person who can answer why we're here is Private User and until I have any info to go off of I’m disregarding this forum. Take care :)
My father's line, the Thorne family, goes back to England in the 1600s and includes other lines like Isherwood, Mills, Addison, Meshaw, and Wisner. On the other hand, my mother's line, Taylor, has roots in North Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. It also includes the Jenkins, Wenner, and Evans families. If anyone feels they might have a connection with any of these families or would like some help, please contact me.
First of all if you want help we need to know your birth situation. Are you adopted? That takes you down a different search path. If your parents are your birth parents then you need to reveal your mother’s maiden name, your grandparents names etc. You will not get very far without divulging that information. If you are REALLY serious about finding information a DNA test is the fastest and best way to start. Whatever your reason, don’t drag your feet. Unfortunately, DNA test were not available when I was younger. I was adopted and always wondered what happened. It took me over 50 years to finally find my birth parents who were both deceased by then. But I finally did a DNA test and a whole new world opened up for me. It was the best thing I ever did.
I want to know what happened to my maternal step grandfather. He was married to my great grandmother, Nancy Belle Whitehouse in Kentucky in the 1890’s. First marriage for both (though she would go on to marry many more), and they had 3 children (not my grandmother). His last name was Duke or Dukes and he died quite young - maybe early 30’s. That was around 1907. I have never been able to find out when, where, or cause of death. Great grandmother NancyBelle, though soon after married (I think) her sister’s widower and my grandmother was born. Whew!! I realize that he might not have been a direct relative, but after the stories my mother told me about her grandmother, I have often wondered if Nancy Belle might have had a hand in it. I’ve researched for many, many years and can’t find anything about his death. Any suggestions?
My family history has been difficult to research as I was adopted at birth. I have been successful in tracking the family of my biological mother however I have had no contacts with my biological father's family. (they were not married) Now deceased his name was John Richard Everett birth date August 13, 1930 died September 17, 1987 in Dayton, Ohio. Any assistance would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
