Is this his Marriage Record? https://www.geni.com/documents/view?doc_id=6000000194711277831

It is for Sept. 1905, for Jacob Finn to Sona or Sorra Finn
Her parents appear to be Joseph Finn and Chohny Glass.
His are Louis Finn and Lena[Sana?] R. Shapiro.

On the 1910 Census they have been married for 4 years, so that fits.
She is 25 on 1910 Census, 20 on Marriage Record so that fits.
Her parents names seem to fit those on Geni.
His age appears to be 29 on 1910 Census, is 24 on Marriage Record so that fits.

But his parents do not seem to fit ones on Geni at all.

This is clearly the Death Notice for the Jacob Finn with wife and children attached to this Jacob Finn on Geni - and the siblings listed match also.
It was published May 12, 1946

BUt the California Death Index which is a Confirmed Match on his Profile is for a Jacob Finn whose Mother's maiden name, it shows, was Reisa.
Which is not his Mother's Maiden Name on Geni currently, nor in that Marriage Record.

Parents are correct. USA marriage records often use anglicized names. Louis is clearly Zev Yehuda/Vulf Leyba Fin, which is a variation of Juda Loeb, where Yehuda is Juda and Leyba is Loeb. Most of the related Finn family research has Rivke Raize as the mother’s given name of their eight children, with the surname being unknown in some references. Lena may or may not be another anglicized name— The Blokh surname is confirmed on records shown on Ancestry.com.

Also note that in many cases, inaccurate information is included on marriage and death certificates Because the person providing the information may not be knowledgeable or accurate at the time of entry.

My grandfather Jacob Levin nee Polyak listed his parents on his marriage record as Harris Levin when his father’s name was Tzvi Hirsch Polyak- His mother was written in as Fannie Levin when the name was Fruma Mlotok. As in my grandfather’s case, Jacob Finn's parents never came to the USA. So, I scrutinize marriage records of that era and hope to find other documents that prove them correct or wrong.

Jeff

Thanks, Jeff.

Am used to in the CA Death Index the entry for "Mother's maiden name" being her birth surname. It was clearly not Shapiro or Blokh. Am willing to accept in this case it is her Given Name.

I knew Zev was not likely to be Americanized as "Louis" - did not think enough about "Yehuda" -- do know Leib is often Americanized as Louis, and is often part of Yehuda Leib

But failed at the time to think Yehuda by itself might be Louis - and "Lena R. Shapiro" is very far from "Rivka Raisa Blokh" - even if the "R" is for Rivka or Raisa, it still seemed a stretch.

I was the one who uploaded that marriage record for them, about a year ago, and looking now, got worried.

Again, thanks.
