Re https://www.mysouthernroots.com/getperson.php?personID=I1987&tr... apparently there are maybe three men named Jonas and I just added Julia or Juliet Burkholder to Geni yesterday and am still expecting to find a duplicate for her.
This link shows him as married to her and also Rachel Hyde.
Not sure if tha is correct or not but I am looking at Williams and Jenkins again.... the Jenkins researcher passed away last year and I am looking for her research.

It appears he changed his name after the death of his wife Rhoda

What makes anyone think he changed his name at all?

He was Philip Jenkins
Timeline looking at census
I haven’t found Rhoda’s death record yet
He apparently had several children outside of marriage and they went by their mothers’ maiden names
I worked on them today but not exhaustively
