Certainly, it is wishful thinking that my ancestor descended from this couple. It would be nice as this connection causes a Mayflower connection.

Yet, the records maintained by the Edward Doty society present a different narrative. According to them, their daughter was born around 1780 and passed away in 1852 in Indiana. In contrast, my research points to our Sally (Clark) Riley being documented in the 1860 census as residing in Tate, Clermont, Ohio. Thus Sally (Clark) Riley is not the daughter of Stephanus Clark and Keziah Doty.

It is another case of people tree building versus those doing genealogy. A lot of ancestry users like click-bait attachments just because a name matches.

At some point, I will disconnect Sally from the parents. My/our Sarah "Sally" Clark was noted as being from Pittsgrove, and there were several Clarks from the Pittsgrove area at the time. I suggest we focus on the Pittsgrove area as this is where Sally was living when she was married, and likely her parents lived there.
