The actual name of this Chief was Mdlangaso kaSitata kaFaku from the Mpondo Kingdom, and Molangazi is a misspelling of that name.
He was one of numerous grandsons of King Faku. Mdlangaso married Princess Victoria, daughter of Sandile kaNgqika.
They got married in 1868 at Sihlonyaneni, Flagstaff
In July 1872 he (Mdlangaso) was brought to Lovedale by the widow of the Rev. Thomas Jenkins. He was accompanied by his three brothers: Nombitshi, Mgweli Sitata & Josiah Jenkins. He studied there for about 2 years & became the first literate Mpondo chief, then returned to Mpondoland.
