I have had a subscription to newspapers.com for a while. Just got a subscription to oldnews.com with a new omni subscription.

On newspapers.com I usually sort by "Publication date (oldest)" so I am shown the most recent dates first and the articles in order.
Sometimes I sort by "Paper date (newest)"

As far as I can tell, oldnews tosses results up totally randomly, with no way to choose any sort criteria. They are totally mixed up as to date, place, etc.

Am I missing something? Is there a way to do any type of sort on Oldnews?

On Oldnews, there are three fields under Edit Search, then two fields under Filter By
Those first three are
"Name, event or Keyword"
"Publication year"
"Publication place"

Under Filter By
"Publication name"
"Publication date"

On newspapers.com in Search there are also three fields, and then four fields for limiting results
The first three there are
Keyword or name
Date (optional) - under which it says "Add a date or range"
Location (optional) - under which it says "Add a city, state or county"

Then, with drop down menus, there are
Categories
Newspapers
Sort
Filters

In Oldnews
Clicking "Publication year" in the top three triggers a numeric keyboard, at least on my tablet,
And one is only allowed to enter a "1" or "2" as the first character, can only enter digits, can only enter at most 4 digits.
Clicking in "Publication year" in the top three also causes a line below to appear "Match year flexibly" with a little down arrowhead after it.
Clicking that line gets a choice of
Match year exactly
+ / - 2 years
+ / - 10 years
+ / - 20 years

So one is able to choose something in the way of a range, but limited choices.
Or in "Publication date" in Filters one can enter an exact date.

On Newspapers.com
one can enter a year, a month year, a month date year,, Or a Range in the Date field (in the top three fields)
