First, let me thank you for all of your hard work on genealogy.

I began the research of my family over 15 years ago. I had a representative of JRI Poland do the research on my grandfather's family and this is what they found.

According to Polish records, Jacob's father was Herz Fajwel Czernikowski. His mother was Brandla Gitla Smelcman.

I agree his handwriting was probably terrible and t I know the workers at the offices were often puzzled by European names. That could cause much of the confusion.

Thanks again,

Phyllis,

Glad I was able to help with the tree. Once the dates or marriage and childrens births were found, everything seemed to fall infto place. Those second/third marriages with multiple sets of children occasonally are tricky. Especially when two wives have the same first name.

When I first got onto Geni there was one family where the father had 4 children with two wives and both wives (2 kids each) had the same first name. There were several trees to merge and multiple wrong combinations of moms and kids. But once the dates of all involved were found, it all fell into place.

Have fun,

Howard

Thanks for getting back to me.
It was driving me crazy! He wasn't so old that he would call his wife by his last wife's name but it appears that's exactly what he did.

After hours online and lots of paper printed, I determined that Jacob Chernek married Pessie Ladmer first. on 1/7/1921. So that's Pessie Ladmer Chernek. She died 8/29/1939 (which is why I remember her). There are several dates for her birth. It was in Ukraine so who knows.

He then married Bessie (Levitt) Kaminsky. She passed away on 1/25/1950. I don't have a marriage date. Birth date shows circa 1891 but I'm not putting any money on it.

Thanks again for the great work you're doing.
