Elizabeth (Townsend) Ludlam-Ethridge - Correct parentage????

What sources are there for the parents of Elizabeth Townsend? Where does the hyphenated maiden name come from?

Her birthplace is listed as Virginia. Attached parents Henry Townsend, Jr. and Deborah Townsend I think that this Elizabeth has been confused with the Elizabeth Townsend Ludlam who stayed in New York. This one Elizabeth Ludlam

Any thoughts or more information? I think Elizabeth from Virginia should have parents disconnected until we find more info. Thanks.

This is something that's been on my to-do list. The parents should be removed and the "Ludlam" portion of the name removed. I'm in the middle of a project and trying to avoid distractions. Will try getting to this next week.

William, I will see if I can find anything. I suspect we need to have the work done and a curator lock the profiles to keep the two Elizabeths from being merged. It may be next week for me also.

William Brooks, see if Elizabeth Etheridge is better now. I placed a map of early Virginia as her profile picture.

I am tagging Emily Kent Marget who looked at some of the New York family to see if she can assist with the Ludlam and Townsend lines. They need some work, I think. Lots of confusion with the Elizabeths. It might be good if the Elizabeth Townsend from Virginia was MPd. I am going to see if I can find more info on her.

I have mastered, but not locked, both Elizabeth Etheridge and Elizabeth Ludlam Both have unresolved data conflicts so I will not lock them down. But they cannot be re-merged.

Knowing which Elizabeth Townsend married Joseph Ludlam would be a big help.

Married 1677 … They had at least four children together: Robert Townsend (b. 1687), Elizabeth Townsend (1692-1756), Henry (d. 1709) and Uriah Townsend (1698-1767).

A daughter married __ Ludlam.

It looks like y'all have handled Elizabeth Etheridge in the best way. I intend to remove myself as a manager as I'm not a blood relative to Elizabeth.

Emily Kent Marget - I found the family of Elizabeth Ludlam already MPd, and merged in. There were three different Elizabeth Townsends.

Erica Howton - I had set the MP on two of them to keep them from being merged again with each other. Without sources and with data conflicts, I did not lock them down.

Thanks, all. I have requested to be added as a manager for Elizabeth Etheridge as I have a direct connection if I can confirm the children attached to her. I am not sure that they are hers or the other wife Kateras (Hateras) Ethridge, Old Cheraw More research is needed on this, I think. Maybe someone has some information.

I looked for Elizabeth’s “ possible brother Joseph Townsend and daughter of Josiah Townsend” to review but so far I haven’t seen them. The case made in the source for her being part of that family was good. You might want to check genealogist Roberta Estes postings. I’m pretty sure she’s an Etheridge (and singer Melissa Etheridge is a different family but you check that Ancestor report also).

There’s an issue for Willoughby Etheridge, Sr. father - FamilySearch has Caleb - but now we’ve got a pedigree that’s bern published to check.

Erica Howton, I am working on some profiles further back and seeing where they come out. Some things didn't add up and needed sorting, I think. Lots of similar names. Will need some MPs when I can get sources and done. Wiki tree has had some work, but I am going to the sources listed there where I can find them.

Will start a separate discussion on Virginia Etheridge family if that is alright with you all. Needs to move from this Townsend group until we get them under control. Townsend is a family that shows up in Eastern SC/NC and I have done some work on them with Robyn Sherma. She has people with that line and we hit a dead end. This might help with finding more info on that line. Probably came down King's Highway.

I am also working on the Pate family as it is a mess and connected. Will be posting info on the connections in that discussion too. This starts in England and moves to America. But there are too many children and seem to be wives and in-laws connected to some. Have to work on this evening.
