Hi
Can someone please tell me who Nikerson Chase is as he keeps coming up as father to James Alvin Shaw Chase.
I believe William st Lucia is father to James Alvin Shaw Chase, pretty sure the Shaw comes from Williams wife Caroline Shaw.
Anyway i come down through James Alvin Shaw Chase--Alexander Hanara Chase--William Chase aka Karauria--Alex Chase--Lillian Duxfield--Me
Hope some can spill the T for me.

Kia ora Tina, there are two sets of possible parents on FamilySearch with the most likely given as Nickerson Chase and Fanny Chase (nee Norton) who married in Massachusetts on 1 January 1801 (the facts and dates seem to fit a little better). I haven't yet been able to track down the birth information for James to verify this though - and I believe other researchers are also trying to find the information. Have you discovered any useful records? Please take a look at the FamilySearch tree and see what you think: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LHPR-25X Deb M.

Please also see this article which confirms the Nickerson link: https://groups.io/g/newzealand/topic/james_shaw_chase_1817_1900/103...

Hi Debbie
So exciting talking to you, if Nickerson is James father i have to re do my whakapa as ive gone up William st lucia's line.
On My Heritage and Ancestry i see William st Lucia as dad for James.
Please keep me posted on any findings.
I did recently recieve a coroners report for James wife Naomi, whom died in the Mount View Asylum, Im currently trying to get her records.
Thank you for sharing that newspaper clipping.

Oh brilliant well done Tina, it would be interesting to see what her records contain. Hopefully there isn't too much change for your pepeha :) I think the newspaper article is the primary evidence for the Nickerson connection which confirms it for me - there are also really interesting people going back in the Nickerson line. I think this was discovered fairly recently which will be why the other trees haven't been updated yet. Happy to help :)
