Lucretia who went by Ann was married to my 5th Great Grandfather John Davis Sr of Edgecombe Co. N.C.. Her name was on a land purchase of 1742 in Edgecombe Co. with her husband John. This is the only land transaction I found with her name on it The spelling was Lucreha on the document. This is the earliest document found of my John Davis and Lucretia buying land in Edgecombe.This must have been when he entered this area form possibly Virginia? John lived around the Tyancocoa Swamp area at this time and lived there until around 1770 when he started buying land further south same county around the north of Contentnea Creek where he lived until his death. Selling 113 acres apiece to his 2 sons John Davis Jr and James Davis. In his will of 1799 James is not mentioned, he is out of the picture at this time and he ended up with his son and faimily in what became east Tennessee. Would like to see documentation of how some have came to the conclusion that Lucretia was a Boswell before marrying. This conclusion makes everyone assume John Davis Jr was John Boswell Davis but again would like to see the documentation of that. John Wyatt Davis is a whole different John than this line but has been confused with repeatedly. This is somewhat understandable because of the many John Davises and the fact there is a tie to Edgecombe Co with both sets. Thanks, Rick Davis
