I can’t find evidence for the existence of the Simon Fletcher this discussion is linked to. That’s problematic — but the real problem for me is that his parents not only can’t be found (by me, so far), but have names that don’t make sense, having middle names at at time they didn’t exist.
There are unsourced web tree genealogies for the Fletchers, but that’s not a help — on account of their being unsourced.
There are web trees that have unsourced web trees as their sources, which of course is also being unsourced.
There has been an entire line of Fletchers built upward of these profiles, up into people who really did exist but weren’t Fletchers — King Henry I Fletcher, for instance, which, no; or Matilda of Flanders Fletcher, which, also, no — a lot of those; that line’s been cut off.
But I’m stuck here on Fletchers that don’t seem to exist on any site on the net, or any books available on the net.
Don’t bother looking on Stirnet — as far as Stirnet is concerned, the Fletchers don’t go back past the 17th century or so.
