Hello everyone. Regarding William Shingleton and father John. I don't know when they immigrated or if William was born in England (this is an assumption perpetuated by Ancestry.com). There was a Thomas Shingleton in Hampshire County in the 1750s before records show John and family (there are also Jonathon, Thomas and George in the area with records/marriages -William's brothers most likely)---George is *highly probable* the George Singleton who ended up in Louisiana. We match DNA on that SNP.

I'm just not confident to say that William was born in Berkshire. There are no ship lists that I've seen with them on it. Of course they must be connected because of the match with the NC Singletons, but more digging needs to be done and I don't think it's on the internet. Next time I'm back in WV I'll go to Rappahannock County and see what's in the courthouse (nobody has been there to look to my knowledge).

Thanks,
Sarah Shingleton

Oh and yes these profiles must be the same. But there is no evidence that Elizabeth's maiden name was Gray that I have seen. The Gray name may have been misconstrued at some time with that of their daughter who married Elizabeth who married William Gray.

Thank you,
Sarah Shingleton
