Looking at the logs i think what's happened is that you've started merging your tree with another version of your family created by another user, which is entirely correct to do, but this has resulted in Mary having two husbands, it looks like to fix this you have tried to disconnect one but instead have disconnected both. I restored both husbands and the way forward is for you to merge those two profiles

Mary also aha a sister named Mary, who probably needs to be merged into her profile.
There are two sisters, Jeesa and Jessie, that are most likely duplicates of each other.
Then there is a half brother, George, who may actually be intended as a full brother but has not been added correctly to represent that. Do you know?
Hi Alex, thank you for clarifying those issues for me. I think George was born to Margaret Bramston (nee Shaw, possibly her maiden name or first husband's name) in 1841 and adopted by George Bramston. George and Margaret went on to have a range of children including my great grandmother, who was a twin, in 1861.
I have another interesting query which you may be able to help me with. On the ANZAC site it is reported that my mother was married to a soldier, Augustine John Black on 21 Nov 1942 in Melbourne. He is reported as being killed in action on 7 September 1943. I can't find anything at all about him or their wedding. Mum's maiden name was Braithwaite. She went on to marry again twice. The family had no idea about this original marriage. It was never mentioned and I am intrigued to find out if it actually happened or not. His name sounds American to me but that is a complete guess. I have tried a couple of ways to find info about him but to no avail. Any suggestions would be fantastic.
Cheers for all your assistance so far.
Tess
Hi Tess, when i look for "Augustine John Black" I mostly just turn up your own work looking for him.
It looks like you have found the SSN data for John Black and used this to populate Private
I would recommend not populating the Geni profile with this data unless you have some actual evidence that the death record doe s in fact reflect the man you seek. Posting speculative data has a bad habit of setting up an echo effect.
Augustine Black is not such a rare name, and John Black is not unusual at all. I can not find a US enlistment for Augustine Black. But those records are not 100% reliable so me not finding something is not proof of anything. There is an option to contact the US Army directly to request service records, it has been a few years since i worked WW2 records so i don't have an address handy.
Looking at US census records doesn't turn up any obvious Augustine's and too many John Black's born in SC, c1911.
One alternative way forward would be to research the 9 different Augustine Black's that do show up in the US Census records (none in SC) to see if any of their families moved to SC or had a son named "AJ" or "A. John" or "John A", etc.
Alex you are wonderful, thank you.
One more query. As there are a lot of people in my family tree, I am wondering if there is an option to view only direct great-grandparents etc. So for example, My Grandmother Theresa Braithwaite, also had two sisters, I don't need to see the information about those sisters . Is there a way to limit the view please?
How did you get into researching family lines?
Cheers
Tess
Hi Tess,
Yes there is, i just need to remember best way to do it.
When my mother passed i inherited her genealogy notes and that led me to cousins already active on Geni. I had a job where i had to be online all day but had very little to actually do so i ended up spending as much as 50 or 60 hours a week on Geni (12 hour nightshift roster).
