@Richard Bennett, of NC Can someone tell me how they know that Fishing Creek Bennett was the wife of Richard Bennett? What is the source? I have never seen this anywhere except on Geni. I am descended from Richard Bennett (1700-1764). He died in Bute County, NC. He is the father of 10 children, Christian, Sarah, Richard, Mark, William, Moses, Ann, Amey, James, Martha. I have DNA connections to all of those children. My line comes through Mark. My question that I have been trying to get answered is who is Fishing Creek Bennett, where is the sourcing for her and Jeremiah Bennett her son? I cannot seem to get an answer to this.
I also cannot find any sourcing on the parents of this Richard Bennett. So many of the trees on other genealogy sites are just flat wrong. According to books written on the Bennetts, the son of Richard III died in 1719. Richard Bennett of NC as he seems to be called only appears to show up in North Carolina after 1730 or so. I am not saying this is not true, but without sourcing of any kind how does one call it legitimate?
Can someone please tell me where I can go to research this information. I have been trying to verify this information
