Surely we're not meant to add the millions of people who were born in the Baby Boom years?

What is the objective?'

If there isn't one, can we define now? It looks culturally oriented.

Thoughts?

A Quick Guide to Generations, By Birth Year (According to Parents Magazine and many others):

The Greatest Generation (GI Generation) Born 1901–1927
The Silent Generation Born 1928–1945
Baby Boom Generation Born 1946–1964
Generation X Born 1965–1980
Millennial Generation or Generation Y Born 1981–1996
Generation Z or iGen Born 1997–2010
Generation Alpha Born 2010-2024

The years for the generational projects that have been created are way off. For instance the Baby Boom didn't start in 1955 and Gen Z didn't start in 1985. The years really should be amended to reflect reality.

What is the focus of the projects? Is it cultural touchstones? Surely we’re not going to load millions of people born in those years into projects?

It often helps to have a master list to work from.

In 1996, Life magazine published a list of their 50 most influential Baby Boomers. Maybe the project could focus on those folks to start, using them as cultural touchstones for people born in that era in the Western world.

Note that, as with all of these generational lists, it is very U.S.-centric.

There are some other good lists that would diversify things a bit, including:

https://www.aarp.org/politics-society/history/info-2014/baby-boomer...

But again, finite parameters are great, because we don't want a situation where every single MP for someone born in a certain time period gets added to a project. Let's have a list or lists and then stick with those names?

The goal of this particular thread is to help the project gain more value by establishing a clear objective for it. If you have suggestions for an objective, that would be great!
