Might want to give a thumbs up to this feature request.
What's the "almost" caveat for? I haven't encountered any issues with it in my family of adoptees.
We have the Adoption Portal at https://www.geni.com/projects/Adoption-Portal/24449 for anyone interested in this topic.
Ashley Odell - I know of one way it fails -- that is in situations where a person is adopted by the second spouse of one of his biological parents - so you have a couple, one of whom is a biological parent, the other an adoptive parent. -- under current system, you must designate the entire couple as adoptive or biological parents.
When you go to the tree you see that the person has several sets of parents (you see the number), but you have no way to know which ones are the ones you are seeing now, nor can you see the other ones without going to the person's profile and looking through the list of the relatives....
And since one can chose to hide some relatives from their list, this is simply '''not''' an option that can be reliably used.
P.S. See the Bugs section here https://www.geni.com/projects/Foreign-exchange-students-and-their-h...
Private User and Volodya Mozhenkov, this is great information to know -- thank you. We should create a thread in the Adoption Portal for people to share problems they've run into. Geni Staff have been great about trying to improve the adoption feature(s), so if we can assemble a list to present, that would really help.
Ashley - I was basically just restating what Remi said here: https://www.geni.com/discussions/145776?msg=1025906
