Assalam wa alaikum wa rahmatullah wa barkatuhu
I gather you’ve all settled down after the fantastic reunion, and some of us are still on holiday!
I was asked to provide my perspective of the reunion and I do so with the utmost pleasure. As I mentioned on the grand evening itself, this was in part a ‘reunion’ and in part an ‘introduction’ for me. I had the pleasure of meeting many of the palwar for the first time, and I must say I was not disappointed or surprised in the least. The love and affection displayed by everyone was expected and typical of our palwar, but was nevertheless very welcome, particularly in these self-centred times that we live in. It was heart-warming to see and experience the love from the whole mataqali.
The opportunity to catch up with family or meet them for the first time was invaluable. The BBQ at Seemab’s place was a fantastic idea as it provided an opportunity to build on the previous night’s introductions and moesi – and to meet those who were ‘incognito’ at the reunion!
Also invaluable was the chance to get together with our family elders, the backbone and stalwarts of the family. Their trials and tribulations for the family and the memories must be treasured forever. The photo slides were an absolutely gem! And let’s not forget our wonderful ‘MC’!
This was certainly an event (now being contemplated by other families!) that I for one will never forget. It was great having my children meet everyone as well.
Tas and team please take a bow, and we anxiously await announcements about the next one!
