I just realized that a family tree is symbolized by a banyan tree, with branches spreading across a land..many lands, and breathing a new life where it finds a ground. It is amazing to see that a person can be related to so many individuals whom otherwise he would not know, just like one branch of a banyan tree would not know that the other tree on the other side of the road is it's own. Next time, when we meet a stranger in a even stranger place, chances are they are our own blood. Let's hope the blood is thicker than water.
also, the word banyan comes from the fact that during the British times the Baniyas (merchant caste) would spread their belongings under the tree for the buyers to look at them. Hence the british named the tree after the Baniyas sitting under it..banyan tree.
