R C was the youngest son and this story was related to me by L ganesa Sarma, my uncle.
At age 3, he was having severe feverand he was allowed to fast. Food was cold water only may be with some lemon juice. After a week, it was diagnosed as small pox.
The disease could have been fatal. Small pox becomes fatal if eruptive matter is obstructed in its path at the exiernal skin. On account of fasting bowels were cleared.
All the eruptions matured in 12 days, food was given once a day. then coconut water, butter milk, and then milk. Regular diet speeded his discovery.
