"Pitts"

Pitts Stallard is his given name. P.C. was a nickname that I remember him being called by some.

Interestingly, the 1900 census lists Pitts' father's name as what looks like "D.C. Collier "

I would say that is probably correct. The marker at the cemetary had it wrong,
I always thought it was Pitts also. somebody told me different, but people forget and it looks like he signed it Pitts.

I know his dad was Cora, it was probably a middle name.
