Based on marriage record of Michal Bartnicki and Franciszka Marzykowska, I see that surname of Frances' mother is Kisielewska, not Kislowska.

I have found several spellings for this name in the databases of the Polish Genealogical Society of America <www.pgsa.com> These spellings are:
Kwiatkowski
Kisielewski
Kislowski
Kistowski

In the obituary of Antonina Mazikowski, her father's name is given as Jacob Kislowski. In Jacob's wife's [Elzbieta] obituary, the surname is spelled Kistowski. These obituaries are from the Polish newspaper in Chicago. I have no idea which is correct.

Thanks for your help.

Could you send me this obituary? Maybe I can judge what the correct spelling should be. I can imagine that Kisielewska name could evolve to Kislowska throught Kiślewska (very similar pronunciation).

Thank you for the informative replies. I have several obituaries for these related families and can scan them. Can you send me you email address so that I can send them directly to you? Mine is: bperk930@aol.com

Thanks again.

You mentioned that you could take photos of the village of Debniki. I would love to have these, particularly of the church. This Polish family is the family of my former sister-in-law. Her son, my nephew, is getting married in September, and a record of his ancestry with photos would be a wonderful addition to his wedding gift.

I will be driving through Lomza probably this April. Hoping the church will be open. Take care!
