Any materials, images, poems, lyrics etc connected to 'Ätsve-Mats' would be greatly appreciated. I have not even been able to find a single photo of his memorial stone at the Roslep Chapel in Noarootsi, does anyone live close by? :)
Mats Ekman, aka 'Ätsve-Mats' was a rural poet who wrote his texts in 'Nuckösvenska', a dialect spoken by the Estonian Swedes on the peninsula of Noarootsi (Swedish: Nuckö) in Estonia until the end of WWII. On Ätsve-Mats memorial stone at the Roslep Chapel in Noarootsi you can find excerpts from a poem called 'Båndomstien' (English: 'Childhood', Estonian: 'Lapsepõlv'). The poem has become somewewhat of an anthem for the Estonian Swedes.
