A search for a person in the web will show information more than a person's name. It shows to whom one is married the maiden name for women and all names of the children. This is in spite of the fact the profile is private. This is a breach of privacy. how can this be stopped?

1) are these profiles actually marked as public (little green circle next to name),
2) did you log out of Geni before doing these searches? While logged in you are seeing more than another person would.
3) perhaps these profiles were only recently made private?
