Hi,

I see a birth record for Dawid Abraham, but a child was born with the father Abraham Dawid. No marriage record that I can see.

It appears to be the same person, but can't be sure. Can we clear this up somehow?

It was frequent use to change the position of two given names. One of my ancestors was born as Hillel and he passed away as Marek.

Linda Sue Silverman: are you ok with saving as Dawid Abraham, do you have any records saying it's Abraham Dawid? I'd like to clear up the conflict.

Fred, if it is the case that there are records showing both orders, is there a convention in how to store this information?

A convention could be: list all given names and use the position of names that appears in most of the records.

I'm afraid I am not sure who you are referring to; can you elaborate? Many times I have found names that are in one order for some records and switched for other records, just like Fred mentioned. I am not sure that we can ever be sure which is considered the 'real' or 'proper' order and if there was actually a proper order.

Looks like Dawid seems more prominent here.

Thanks Jacob; I am up to speed again!! I have not yet found a connection between my family ROZENBLAT-ROZENBLUM-ROZENBAUM (yes, they went by all of these names) and the ROZENBLUM family, but I have collected all of the data on this family as my family has strong Olkusz roots and I'm wondering if this isn't another branch of my family.

That being said, I have a few families stories that I will share, please let me know if you have these stories as well. Maybe that will give us a clue if/how there might be a connection.

Here goes:
1) The ROZENB... family are Sephardim. I was able to confirm that by having a cousin do a DNA test. Has anyone in this family considered doing one?
2) We are related to the Bostoner Rebbe. I was able to confirm that through the late Rebbe who told me that his father told him we are related, but he didn't know how. My gg grandfather brought the original Bostoner to America in 1915.
3) We are descended from the Rambam. I have half confirmation on this story from a man who contacted me to determine if his wife's family was also part of my ROZENBLAT family. We confirmed the connection and then he told me that there is a story in her family of descent from the Rambam.

So....if you are familiar with any of the above stories it might help us connect several still disconnected families and create a rather extensive tree. My tree has about 900 people going back to the mid 1700s. Another possible clue; my gggg grandfather Szymon ROZENBAUM-ROZENBLAT was ABD of Checiny.

I sure hope that some of these stories are familiar to someone!!

Linda
