Gladis was a Spillman. However, I do not believe she and John were Peter's true parents. They raised him and she calls him her son in her will and there are a lot of family trees that list them as Peter's parents but, I and many other descendants have arrived at the conclusion that Peter is the son of John's brother Francis and his first wife Sarah Saxton. Sarah died almost immediately after child birth. Then Francis married Elizabeth Underwood when Peter was about 2 or 3. Then Francis died when Peter was about 6 or 7. The Jett family must have taken Peter then because there is no more record of him with Elizabeth. There are records of Elizabeth she married several more times. But Peter does not appear to be with her.
I would be interested in anyone else's opinion on this matter and I hope we can fix the Geni tree if need be.
