My mother is an Eisenstadt. Her parents left Russia (Schedrin was the name of the town) to come to the US. Recently I have obtained information on Eisenstadts from the Museum of the Diaspora. I do not know if our Eisenstadt family is related to Yehoshua Eisenstadt. My grandfather Boris Eisenstadt, came with his wife Ida (formerly written on the passenger manifest as Haja) (Soloviev) Eisenstadt, and two daughters, Sophie and Esther. My mother was subsequently born in this country. Given that Jews often adopted names based upon the town in which they lived, how does one know if one is genetically related to the various individuals whose names are Eisenstadt? One well known rabbi named Meir Eisenstadt took the name because he lived in Eisenstadt. At that time the town's Hungarian name was Kismarton.
