Thank you, Jaime, that would be very nice of you. I think the problem is private profiles.

Would someone please take a look? I think people are attached incorrectly. Ann Stribling's husband was born in 1608 & her father was born about 1723. I almost started a discussion however she only has one manager. Thanks Faustine

Ann Milton

Well that's someone's wishful thinking on one of England's greatest poets.:)

I'm making a new profile called John Milton of VA & moving the children over before disconnecting Ann Stribling. There will need to be research for the "real" husband.

Thanks Erica

Have not done much today. My ability to place profile photos has abandoned me. Is there a change I need to know about?

6/27/2013 at 5:18 PM

I haven't had any trouble uploading images today. I'll post a FAQ - there are good ones. If that doesn't work, link a profile that's giving you grief.

6/27/2013 at 5:40 PM

Thanks Erica, but how do I get the photo to the profile? I have always put it in the folder as I put it in the profile from "my pictures" on the computer. It does not give me the browse button anymore.

Use the Family Button at top right of your screen, from the drop down menu select Photos then navigate thru your folders to find the photo which you have uploaded and open that photo.
In the details section below the photo the first line is "In this photo" [edit].
Press the blue [edit] and a data entry box will pop up in which you can nominate which profiles you want to associate with that profile. It is a good idea to visit the profiles involved just prior to opening the photo so that the names will be in your recently visited list.

Usually if there is only one photo associated with a profile Geni will automatically set that photo as the person's profile picture. If a profile has more than one photo attached to it you can select which one you want to be the profile photo by ...

That second sentence should have been:
"Press the blue [edit] and a data entry box will pop up in which you can nominate which profiles you want to associate with that PHOTO."

Thank you Alex.

Thanks Alex,
I wish I'd known that before I uploaded the same 3 pictures for 1/3 each of about 200 of the Navajo Code Talkers, but hey - better late than never as they say. It's late here, I'll give it a try in the morning. Really, thanks immensely Alex, and Erica too.

6/28/2013 at 4:54 AM can enter photos (from your harddrive) in eithr 'tree' view or under MEDIA in the 'profile' view....

6/28/2013 at 5:59 AM

... the key is, once you've uploaded a photo, you shouldn't have to do so again.

Another approach is to:
-> view the full profile to which you want to add the photo, then
-> select the Media tab.

Depending on whether or not there are already photos attached to that profile, you then
->click either "Add Photos" or (if none so far) "Click here" to upload.

At that point, instead of using one of the uploaders,
-> select the "Browse Your Albums" tab,
-> navigate to the photo(s) you want to attach to that profile,
-> select them (check mark), then
-> click the blue "Add Photos" button at the bottom.

This it the approach I use most often.

I just have my 'frequently shared' photos (e.g.: a "Died Young") in their own folders so I don't have to search through a large list of the "other" profile-type pictures.

When I upload a photo to my harddrive I always (whether photo or doc) give it a docs/photos folder sorts by first I just type in the name...and I get all the (i.e.) Mary's...and all I have to do is type the last name and all docs and photos for that particular person is available, I just pick the right one for my purpose.

6/28/2013 at 6:56 AM

... keep in mind, I was referring to the folders on Geni, not on my local machine. (Geni calls them Albums in relation to the Media "Browse Your Albums".)

6/28/2013 at 8:13 AM

Thanks folks, Alex's way worked like a charm. Of course it wasn't him I doubted. I don't think I'll clutter this old mind by trying to remember too much.

Both your accounts shows the status logged in, so you obviously have access to both.
Just close the account you don't want to keep.

Can you help me merge public profiles, again, where I can't get response from one of the profile managers?
Edward Arkin, Leon Arkin, Celia Springer (Arkin), Louis Springer, Abe Springer, Elsie Hertz, Max Arkin, Esther Arkin
There are other matches in that part of the tree, but those are the public ones.

Are you aware that the edit albums "button" in photos is not working? It has said, "...try again in a few minutes." for several days now. Or is that above my pay grade?

Danny: Sounds like something about which to log a Ticket on (click on the 'Help' at the bottom of very page).

I knew you had an answer Dan, thanks.

Hello Curators!!! I am pretty sure that something is wrong with this relationship pattern.
Elizabeth McCoy (Blair)

This Elizabeth Blair's mother is Nancy, and Nancy's mother is Elizabeth Blair? And vice versa!

7/4/2013 at 10:46 AM

Too many twists for me Private User, Elizabeth and husband are also born the same time as her grandparents, which is of course before Nancy's birth. Also, there is a confusion of Brice's with Brice, Brice I, and Brice II. The problem could be there, but as I said it's too tricky for me, just thought I'd try.

Good Luck

I have come across some Patriots of the American Revolution who are listed as having fought at Valley Forge. I looked for a specific project for that & didn't see one. I'm not suggesting a new project, just wondered if I am missing it. Thanks, Faustine

Don't have nearly enough "event" sub projects to

The "Related Projects" link is up to date. No Valley Forge battle.
