I just got a request to merge a file that was started by http://www.geni.com/people/L%C3%BAcia-Pilla/6000000003120624112?thr... asking me to merge a profile.

She is a curator and a collaborator of mine, why do I have to give her permision to merge a file.?

I am not pro how do I give her (and other curators/ collaborators) permission to automaticly merge files?

If they are trusted enogh to be a Curator then I should not have to give her permissions! (I'm sure she did her homework)

If your profile have private status she can not merge your profile.
To set Auto-Accept Request go to
http://www.geni.com/list/collaborators/

I think this is a consequence of the "broadcast mode" of merging, which I do not completely understand. I had a worse case. I was asked to perform a merge between two files in which the same curator was the manager of both files.

Private User Thanks for the link, I found every one was Auto-Accept,.

I know you are be Pro so maybe your menus are a little diferant than mine, but how did you get to that link by using the menu?

Private User@gary I'm done to ONLY 1400+ merge issues, maybe then the oddball stuff will stop then, or at least it will not be over something that you did 6 months ago !

If it says Auto-Accept in the list, means thay are not on auto accept.
I know it is confusing.

Private User@glen OK, thank you, I was going to let it be, but I see what you mean now. Going to change them to Auto-Accept (they need to add a toggle on/ toggle off note I guess (for use dummies)!!!!

I agree to that Marvin, on/off icon would be better

I'm not sure how it happens, but she probably didn't send a request. I received one from a curator the other day, and e-mailed her directly asking if, in fact, she wanted me to do the merge (the files did look the same). She e-mailed back right away saying she had not sent the request, and to not do anything with the merge.

Geni is automatically generating these merge requests (one per person per day) and they appear to be randomly selected from all your merge issues. So keep in mind that the person listed has not requested that the email be sent out.

In my case I perfer to be asked to merge rather then be automactic. Don't know who you are getting mixed up with if you go automatic. Sometimes you don't know what you are getting into when do accept. i guess to each his own.

You really have to be careful out there. Look at how I messed up with Myles Standish and I was only trying to help. Won't do that again. Don't want to cause anyone any problems.

This is off the subject, but if some one was born in London in the last 10 years, correct this for me

he was born in

London, Londonshire, England, UK, EU

(and I know the EU may be a streach, but what is YOUR opinion)?

For London it would be only

London, UK

Londonshire does not exists

Some old one maybe use
London, Great London, UK but no one use that anymore

I would like to see a symbol if they are curators, then you could ask to collaborate and auto accept.

Noah Tutak says that he will look into changing this system of email notifications.

Eldon,
the profiles of Curators DO have a small "badge". It's the purple C. It should eventually be shown next to our names everywhere that the Collaborator symbol does. Most of the Curators are active members of the Collaboration Pool, we pretty much started it: http://www.geni.com/discussions/6000000008539319639 Nothing much is gained by having a Curator on auto-accept for either side.

Shmuel, I know about the Curators badge, What I mean is the badge should always be shown next to their names especially on the merges. Then you could be assured that the merges were good. I thought that having the Curators on auto merge would make things easier and faster but that was just a guess
