Can I import a branch into my existing family tree via a GEDCOM file?

I already administer a very large tree but I have hundreds of family members to add to that tree. To avoid the need to manually key every individual person I would like to do it by importing a branch via a GEDCOM file.

I know that a GEDCOM file can be used to create a new account but only if that new account is a PRO user. I am already a PRO user and don't want to incur the additional cost of a additional PRO account.

Does anyone have a workable suggestion as to how I can achieve what I want to do?

Are you sure you have to be a PRO user to import? The blog doesn't say that: http://blog.geni.com/2008/05/new-feature---g.html

Even if you had to be a PRO user, you have to use a different email address, so that address could "Try Geni Pro for Free"

Brendan, I think that 2008 blog is no longer applicable. I found a similar old link but it required a PRO signup to complete the GEDCOM import. According to Amanda of Geni there is currently no ability to import a GEDCOM into an existing tree. Only options are to delete a current tree and replace it with an imported GEDCOM. Or to open a PRO trial account, import the GEDCOM, merge it with the existing tree then cancel the free PRO trial

I may need to go the latter route unless there are some smart get-arounds out there somewhere
