here is a web site regarding Native American Records. Milt http://www.us-data.org/us/

Milton, great find. Thank you for sharing.

Milt,

I just started looking at the site. It looks wonderful. Thank you so much.

Maria,

OK if I add this as a resource to the Cherokee History Project?

Hi Milt: interesting site but is only Cherokee related. sadly very little has been in connection with New England Indians. They seem to think we've all disappeared.. They forget about the reservations up in Maine. There's one in Old Town,Me. Last time I was very small and they were very poor. Things have changed for the native population in Maine since they won their lawsuit against the state of Maine Never been to the one in Perry. . I have fond memories of going over as we said Down Maine Way ,as a child. we use to go to a friends farm in east Holden every summer. Only three houses there. The Carter's had cows, a very crankie bull and a hrse, the Harts had a horse ,if I remember correctly and a huge garden, and an INDOOR BATHROOM! No one else had an indoor bathroom. The Henderson's whom we visited had goats. There backhouse(bathroom was nicer than the Carther's,no squeshed mices to walk by while getting there, .No Lillian's was clean and wallpapered with three seats . It like the carter's was attached to a barn like shed anf then the house. At least we didn't have to go outside like the family I visited in West va. did. There's was way out there! Funny what seemed like an adventure when you were five years old. But I did love going Down maine every year. Another thing I never saw in saugus were pumps. The Cater's had one on there kitchen sink,no indoor plumbing, and one o'couse at horse throth. lillian ,had indoor pluming for the sink, well water. This made it easier to put a bathroom in ,years later, which she did. I haven't been up there in years. Imagine all the grown ups are all dead by now. but mybe the carter's son is still there, just alittle older then me. He could be there. be nice to know if he updated the place.

EH - re project, be my guest! The more tools the better.
