Tagging images outside Family Group

Before the recent changes to Geni I could tag people outside my Family Group by having the profile manager as collaborator + friend (or perhaps it was even enough with just one of these two).

I tried tagging an image again today with the tagged target profiles manager as a collaborator. Did not work. I was able to create the tag with "Identify", click "Done Identifying" and it seemed ok. But checking the tagged person’s profile, the new image was not attached. I applied the tag again, clicked "Done Identifying", this time only refreshing the tagged image: tag gone. Tried again with a second person & different manager in the same photo: tag gone again.

Older images with people outside of the Family Group still have their tags applied correctly for which I'm thankful. But what can I do to make new tags stick in similar situations today without adding, sometimes quite distant, managers of the profiles of interest to my Family Group? I have yet to try the Family Group-trick so I'm not sure it is even a valid workaround? Am I doing it all wrong? Is there an even easier way?

Is this actually some sort of preventive mechanism? If it's another result of the "Friends" group getting the shaft in favor of "Following", it's just sad. I hope it is not & that situations like this can still be resolved without the need of jumping into each other’s Family Group just because we share some people on a photo.

What say you?

My wish is: I shall be able as: [[ Geni profile ID ]] to tag anybody in Geni at photos. This tagging shall then be automatic for Public (non-Claimed) profiles and these tagging requests shall be sent to managers and user in case of private and claimed profiles.

Example - some wedding picture (group picture) with all persons from this village on it from 1923. If I know these pictures and I can find them /know that they are/ in Geni, I shall be able to tag them (independently from my relationship to their trees and managers).
Of course - also in case of Public profiles - their managers shall be able to un-tag them.

You can tag people by profile ID.

Enter the profile ID and click search more.

Maybe I am not "up to date" but just some weeks ago I tagged with profile ID. It was a picture of some local comunity people from Rødøy. I own the profiile of two of them but the others I just searched on geni and tagged. Wery usefull and I got message back from the profile owner and they thanked me!

I'm trying to do as you suggest with the ID but it does not work for me so far (Enter the profile ID and click search more). I do not even get a hit on the profile by ID search & just leaving the raw ID in there does not work either. I tried both the tagging feature & the regular field below the image. As described earlier, by typing the name in regular manner produced an actual tag in the image with the correct name attached, albeit the tag was not 'saved' later.

FYI the profile in question was created 2009-01-25, is set as private & I do have collaboration with the manager but no profile editing - since this is only possible through Family Group now.

So final solution would be begging the manager to join my Family Group to actually get this image tag done? Maybe stalking would help to? Just kidding :) - Thanks for your input guys :)

You are using the profile ID only and not the full path?

Yes the ID with brackets, without brackets, single, double, tripple brackets etc, I tried everything. And no, I did not enter a full URL in the field, are you saying that might work?

The profile ID only, and click "search more". It has always worked for me.

Are you sure that you got the correct number from the profiler URL?

Right now I'm off to other engagements but will try again & experiment further as soon as I've got time & get back with more info :)

Is tagging a profile in my very own image considered as me trying to edit the private target profile? If so, then no wonder, considering Family Group.

In that case might I suggest a less restrictive model to be advisable for imaging since in similar cases, actually the stakholder with the image is the one who's trying to share positive, profile enhancing content with people who have accepted the premise of collaboration - perhaps based on this very agreement of accepting to add a tag to their private profile, from an image in my posession?

Private profile image tagging should be included in collaboration (if it is not already & it's just me having a buggy day).

Makes sense?

Private User - This profile ID thing works for PROs only.
Henn Sarv was also testing it...

For me it was never working.

If it works, then it works just inside your Family (Tree) and Collaborators....
