Ephrata Cloister "death registers" report this former Ephrata community householder's death as Oct. 1778. So we have direct near contemporary evidence. I suspect the 1761 date is mere speculation. Can anyone show evidence for 1761?

For anyone following this conversation, I am a co-manager of some of the Goss profiles. I will be working with Jan to correct some errors in his family's information as shown on Geni. If the profiles are not managed by Jan or by me, I may be contacting you to help clarify matters and move things along.

Regards,
Maria, your friendly neighborhood curator

My fourth great grandmother was a Goss. I'd love to find a connection.

This was cool because Frederick Goss, Sr. is my 6th g-grandfather and I "followed" all my grandparents out to about the 7th g-grandparents. So this story popped up in my newsfeed automagically.

Noah Tutak we need a "follow all of my direct ancestors" button :)

If I start a project, will you guys work on it and help Jan learn about projects? I've been reading about Ephrata, It is fascinating!

Noah and Daniel,
Jan Goss is going on vacation. When he gets back, we will see what help he needs with his family profiles. He has some records from the Ephrata Cloister, so I have created the project.

Daniel, your 6th great grandfather was a part of the Cloister. When you have time, read the project and its links. I am adding you to the project. Help when time permits. This won't be a huge project. At its largest, the Cloister only had 300 residents. So 300 profiles and maybe a couple dozen influential non-residents.

Will do, thanks Maria
