Introductions!

Hello project members!

This thread is for people to introduce themselves. There is no requirement to do so however.

My name is Philip Weiss. My great grandparents Otto Hallin and Othelia Nordvall were from Piteå, though they married in Seattle Washington USA, where I live. I have a cousin interested in genealogy still living in Piteå and I'm trying to talk him into joining Geni.

I started the project for a few reasons:

a) to help people talk through merging duplicates (matching multiple versions of names, etc.)
b) tracking down missing links in Piteå. (See my discussion of Anders Nilsson Lidström for an example.)
c) ...

Hi. My family came to Tacoma, Washington, USA from Piteå and surrounding area around 1900. My great-grandparents, Ruben Nordlund and Hanna Sofia Nordlund were first cousins. Ruben's parents were Janne Nordlund and Hilda Margreta Björklund. Hanna's parents were Petrus Nordlund and Hilda Långström Nordlund. Their grandparents were Johan Peter Persson Nordlund and Hedvig Margareta Nilsdotter Grahn.

I've been in contact with a cousin in Sweden who was able to provide a lot of information. Since I have no research materials here, I can't vouch for what in stone.

Hey! I know that street. : )

Geni says we're 9th cousins too. I always worry when I get attached to one of these big trees, if the research is correct. Although, in an area like Piteå, which I'm certain has never had an enormous population, it's probably quite likely that there would be a connection.
