My maiden surname is Wedel. My immediate ancestors were Mennonites who originated in Prussia in the 1600's and 1700's, moved to the Ukraine (southern Russia) in the early 1800's, migrated to Siberia (east of the Ural Mountains) in the early 1900's, and finally to Canada. Does anyone know if there is a connection to the Wedels in Norway and Denmark? When my second youngest brother has contact with his clients, some of them insist that he must be of Danish origin. Upon meeting my father, people would often insist that he was of Scandinavian ancestry.
